The BARI-4 Mango is a popular high-yielding hybrid variety developed by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). It is a cross between the M-3896 variety from Florida and the local Ashina mango.
Key Characteristics
- Fruit Quality: The fruits are medium to large (averaging 300g–500g) with a smooth, thin skin that turns from green to a vibrant golden-yellow when ripe.
- Flavor Profile: It is known for being extremely sweet (Brix rating around 21.9) with a firm, fiberless pulp and a pleasant tropical aroma.
- Harvesting Season: It is a late-maturing variety, typically harvested between July and August.
- Tree Growth: The trees are regular bearers and well-suited for both commercial orchards and home gardens, including pot cultivation due to their manageable size.
