Key Characteristics
  • Origin and Parentage: Developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, it is a hybrid cross between the ‘Amrapali’ and ‘Lal Sundari’ mango varieties.
  • Appearance: The fruits are medium-sized (averaging around 210-225 grams), oblong, and uniform in shape. When ripe, the peel turns an attractive, vibrant yellow-orange, often with a slight red tinge on the shoulders. The flesh is a deep golden-yellow.
  • Flavor Profile: It is renowned for its intense, rich, and aromatic flavor, which is often described as honey-like. The sweetness is balanced by a subtle tanginess, resulting in a good sugar-acid blend. It has a high Total Soluble Solids (TSS) content, typically ranging between 16% and 22%.
  • Texture: The flesh is juicy, thick, and smooth, with a completely fiberless texture, making it highly desirable for fresh consumption.
  • Tree and Yield: The trees are semi-vigorous and regular bearers, making them suitable for high-density and closer planting in orchards. They start bearing fruit relatively early, often within 3-4 years of planting.
